Thank you Tami Macala of Mosaic Arts Online https://mosaicartsonline.com/ for offering so many courses taught by generous artists willing to share their craft. Learned a new technique taught by Yulia Hanansen, the double reverse method. It is now part of my arsenal.
Five inch mandalas gave me a few days of “flow” during the past two weeks, along with starting a daily exercise/yoga routine. What’s next? A little bumble bee for my granddaughter Annalucia (aka Duckie, Luci, Lulu).
Creating mosaics have helped me maintain a sense of peace during this time. Especially when making a Nursery Room Mosaic for my niece’s baby that’s due in July. The base was from craftcuts.com a great place to get sturdy wooden letters and words. On to the next project – some mosaic mirrors.
One of the blessings of an otherwise tortuous period of history is that we have time to take a breath, reflect on what’s important and indulge in our passions. Below is my most recent mandala. Substrate can be purchased from Angie Heinrich at https://www.zetamari.com/ You can see reflected in the first mirror a backsplash I created in our kitchen and in the second, two small mosaic faces. Started my next piece – a Nursery Wall hanging for my niece’s new baby. Will post after the baby’s born.
Wow! So excited. I’ve been given the opportunity by the Broward Art Guild to be a part of their “Art Around Town” program. Looking forward to presenting my daughters with gifts made with love. Door wreath made with stained glass for my daughter Liana and a tray made with Talavera tiles for my daughter Gina. First time creating a substrate from styrofoam and first time putting resin over a large surface. Learned a lot!
Had the wonderful opportunity to work with #EllenBurrMosaics on her 8 foot x 8 foot “Currents” mural for the new GreenWise in Boca. Met a fabulous mosaic artist and worked on my first public project. What could be better? We plan on starting a Mosaic Group in South Florida shortly, let me know if you’re interested. All levels welcome.
